Christ-Centered Preschool and Childcare

Vinson Morris Children's Center is a Christ-centered daycare and preschool with a long history of service to the Coastal Bend community. We began in 1962 as a half-day kindergarten under the leadership of Vinson Morris, the Director of Christian Education at First United Methodist Church. In 1974, the Church offered a weekday school and childcare center, as an outreach ministry to the Corpus Christi area. The Center was named the Vinson Morris Children's Center in 1982. Vinson Morris Children’s Center is governed by the Board of Directors, which is composed of both First United Methodist Church members and Vinson Morris Children’s Center parents, and reports to the FUMC Church Council.

Vinson Morris Children’s Center is licensed by the State of Texas and is nationally accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and is a 4 star Texas Rising Star Center.

Vinson Morris Children’s center teaches children aged 18 months through 5 years. Our standard operating hours are Monday-Friday 7:00am-6:00pm.

Our Mission

The mission of the Vinson Morris Children's Center is to provide a high quality, safe, developmentally appropriate Christ centered environment to support the spiritual, social, emotional, physical, cognitive growth and development of the children of the Coastal Bend.

Our Philosophy

We believe that children learn about the world around them through play, through daily experiences and through interactions with peers and adults. Our program is designed with an understanding of the developmental stages through which preschool children must pass. We believe that children will benefit by teachers and families working closely in partnership. This will ensure high quality care and education for children.

Our Programs

At Vinson Morris Children’s Center, we believe in creating a well rounded school year for your children including many activities that take place in addition to our standard instruction.

On Mondays & Thursdays we offer chapel time with a variety of our FUMC pastors.
We offer a weekly music day where students are able to learn about the basics of rhythm, tune, and singing
Ms Mary hosts art classes each week to expose our students to a variety of art skills while enhancing their fine motor skills
